Dr. Arvind Mayaram
Principal Consultant
Dr. Mayaram served as Finance Secretary to the Government of India and, as Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, as Alternate Governor for India to the Boards of Governors of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the African Development Bank. He has sat on the governance side of the same institutions the firm now works with — with direct exposure to how their Boards deliberate, how country partnership strategies are agreed and how financing decisions are taken — and brings that perspective to the design and appraisal of operations funded by them.
A 1978-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service on the Rajasthan cadre, he spent thirty-seven years in public administration across the Government of India and the State Government before retiring on superannuation in October 2015. He was India's Finance Deputy to the G20 and BRICS, chief negotiator for the BRICS New Development Bank, co-chair of the G-20 Framework Working Group and chair of the secretaries' group on the AIIB. He is certified as a Public–Private Partnership Specialist by IP3 and the Water, Engineering and Development Centre at Loughborough University, and has led investment-promotion and institutional-reform missions for UN agencies in Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
